Taupo Cycle Challenge Update ... Leanne
The first bike ride in a good few years resulted in soft sitting for the next couple of weeks and a decision I had probably overdone it.
Over the next few sessions I found I could comfortably manage 20kms with out too much discomfort and progressed to 42kms before leaving Taranaki.
After moving to the Waikato, a mishap with a barbed wire fence resulted in 5 stitches and a less positive outlook on the whole challenge.
I was advised the bike I was using would do the job but would probably ‘do me in as well’ as it was over thirty years old and not designed for this type of riding so with a rethink a new bike was purchased and I was away.
Once I added padded riding shorts to my kit I could ride more comfortably so I set a goal to ride 50kms by August, 60kms by Sept etc and found that with my new bike I achieved my first goal by mid August.
MapMyRide has become my new best friend and I can see light at the end of my 80 km cycling tunnel.
