"I am Professor of Earth Sciences at the University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand, and have taught Josh and Zac Lyon (Twins 2 South Pole) geology during the past two years. We have pledged to be foundation supporters of their expedition. Having spent two summers in Antarctica (1976/77 and 1978/79) as a student member of scientific expeditions, I have some insight into the sort of conditions the twins will face, and during one of these summers we man-hauled a sledge from the Polar Plateau down the Drawn Glacier.
